How the Italian press is covering the FIFA World Cup 2018

6abc News – Italy’s top newspapers are covering the World Cup in a positive light, with the La Repubblica and Corriere della Sera newspaper both describing the tournament as “the best event Italy has had since the Second World War”.

The two daily newspapers, which are owned by the same parent company, said the event was an “excellent occasion” and that it “is an opportunity for Italy to showcase itself”.

However, the two papers, which often criticise the president’s handling of the scandal, said they were also concerned about the fact that the 2022 World Cup will not be hosted in the city of Florence.

“Italy must be more careful about its image,” the Corrieree della Patria wrote in an editorial.

“The image of Italy is at stake, its reputation is in peril, its credibility is in danger, it is the greatest country in Europe in terms of numbers.”

The two papers said that the tournament was “an excellent opportunity” and “is the most successful event Italy is known for” in its history.

But the Corrisire also pointed out that the host city was not chosen with any consideration for the “pros and cons” of the country’s economy.

The two newspapers have criticised the Italian government’s handling and the handling of football in general.

“It is an absolute disgrace that the governing party of a country that has won the World Cups in 2022 and 2020 is going to host the World Championship in Rome in 2019,” Corrière della Repubbli wrote.

“This event is a terrible example of the corruption that has plagued Italy in recent years.

It is an example of how a state with a history of corruption, whose people are so desperate for an international reputation, is going back to the same old games.”

La Repubblis also called for the new government to “reassess” its “serious” approach to the World Championships.

“At a time when the state is struggling, when the economy is in a terrible condition and when the political situation is so serious that you can imagine the worst case scenario, the state needs to reassess the way it manages the World Games,” the newspaper said.

The La Repubblica said the tournament “was a great opportunity for a great country, and I believe it was the best event the country has had in decades”.

“The World Cup is a good opportunity for the country to showcase its greatness and to demonstrate that it can host the best games the world has ever seen,” the paper said.
