CNN’s Dana Bash reports that the White House says that President Donald Trump has not sought the appointment of a special counsel to investigate whether former FBI Director James Comey leaked classified information to the media during his private conversations with President Donald J. Trump.
Bash reports from the White the president and his top advisers say that they have not discussed any potential appointment of special counsel.
Trump has said that he will not seek the appointment, but his advisers have suggested that it could be made.
According to Bash, the WhiteHouse is prepared to provide any and all information necessary to determine whether there is an appointment process, if there is a special prosecutor and how that process might be conducted.
The White House is expected to announce a special investigator for the FBI soon.
